Rosa Morano

Rosa (Portanova) Morano (93) passed away peacefully at White Plains Hospital on April 18, 2020. Born on June 20, 1926 to the late Elvira (Tota) and Donato Portanova in Guardia Lombardi, Italy. Beloved wife of Nicola for 64 years who predeceased her on May 7, 2013. Cherished mother of John Morano and Carmela (Tucci) and husband John. A special caring and loving Aunt, Great Aunt and Great Great Aunt to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sister, Grazia Pennella and her brothers Francesco, Nicola, Giuseppe and Angelo Portanova.
She migrated to the USA in Oct of 1958 and worked as a seamstress in White Plains before retiring in 1991. Rosa was devoted to her family and enjoyed cooking and baking. She gave unconditional love to all and had strong family values and traditions which were instilled upon all of us. She welcomed everyone into her home with open arms with a table full of food. Her vegetable garden was her pride and joy that she nurtured from seedlings through full harvest. Her home had many beautiful flowers for her to admire through her windows. Special thanks to the nurses and doctors at White Plains Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion. To celebrate Rosa's life, a special memorial mass will be held at a later date.
