Lynn (Bottrill) Halpern

January 15, 1939 — November 2, 2022

New Rochelle, NY

Lynn Bottrill Halpern was born in Montreal, Quebec on January 15, 1939, to parents David Hughes Kingsley Bottrill and Mildred Bottrill. She had one brother David.  Her father had served for Australia in WWI and after his discharge in England, he travelled to Canada.  He married Mildred, his third wife, and then immigrated to the United States.  They became naturalized citizens in 1941 and called Chicago their home.  At some point they made several moves, travelling the northeast, and finally settling in New York, possibly to be closer to her mother, Mildred’s sister, Ruth Batt.  Mrs. Batt and her husband Sam Seymour Batt resided in Riverdale in the Bronx.  Lynn attended Music and Art High School in Harlem before moving to White Plains and finishing high school at White Plains H.S.  She was involved in the orchestra, bridge, and debate teams at W.P.H.S.  After her time in high school, she furthered her studies at Cornell University, finishing at Wilson College in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania around 1959.  She went on to work at Oliver Beckman Advertising and International Flavors and Fragrances in New York City.  Lynn alternated living with her mother in Manhattan and her aunt in Riverdale.  In 1962 she married Jonathan Allen Halpern.  They married on November 4, 1962 in Manhattan and moved to an apartment on Pelham Rd. in New Rochelle, New York.  In 1968 they moved again to their longtime residence at 45 Berrian Rd. in New Rochelle.  There they had a son Jeffrey Adam Halpern, born April 25, 1970.  They continued to reside in New Rochelle, and split time living at a southern home as well, located in Delray Beach, Florida.  They continued to live at both residences until Jonathan’s passing on February 10, 2019, and Lynn’s on November 2, 2022.  Both of them passed away at age 83.  She is survived by her son Jeffrey, his wife Kelly, and her three grandchildren, Jordana, Blake, and Jason Halpern.
