Joseph DeLucci, 96, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2020 at White Plains Hospital surrounded by his family. Joe was born on January 15, 1924 in New York City and was raised in Brooklyn. Following high school, Joe served our country for three years during World War II as a member of the United States Coast Guard. After his return home, he met Rita McGivney and the couple married in 1948, moving to Staten Island where they raised their three children, Dorothy, Marie and Thomas. They were married for fifty-four years until Rita's death in 2003. Joe became a New York City Police Officer and served for twenty-three years until his retirement. He then worked for many years at St. Peter's Cemetery, Staten Island before moving to Toms River, NJ in 1990. Joe resided for the past four years at Atria Assisted Living in Ardsley. Joe enjoyed reading his daily newspaper, walking, an occasional scotch, spending time with his family and playing pool with his grandsons.
Joe was predeceased by his wife, Rita, his parents, Anthony and Margaret and brother Thomas.
Joe is survived by his sister, Margaret and children Dorothy Jud, Marie Gullstrand and her husband Gregory, Thomas and his wife Dawn and five loving grandchildren: Melissa Haneke, Kelly Gullstrand, Matthew DeLucci, Kevin DeLucci and Christopher DeLucci.
Cremation will be private. A Memorial Mass will be offered for Joe at Sacred Heart Church, Hartsdale on Saturday, February 22 at 11:00 a.m.
