Joan Marie Cardillo

Joan Marie Cardillo, nee Kinard, 89, a long time resident of Hartsdale, NY died at home on Friday, November 27th. She was surrounded by her husband and children.

Born in Allentown, PA, Joan was one of five children and the eldest daughter of Edgar and Rita Kinard. She graduated Harrison High School and went to the American Institute of Banking. Joan worked at Bowery Savings Bank in New York City after her graduation from AIB.

Joan and her husband, Dr. Leo R. Cardillo, met on a blind date and married on November 5, 1955. They lived in New York City briefly before moving to Fort Benning, Georgia while Leo was serving in the Army. In 1962, Joan and Leo settled in Hartsdale, NY where they raised their family.

Family was the center of Joan's life. She loved nothing more than spending time with her husband, 5 children, 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Christmas and Summer vacations were especially important to her as the entire clan came together for fun and family.

Joan will be dearly missed by her family and friends especially her husband of 65 years, Leo; her sons Matthew and his wife Cathy of PA, Paul and his wife Karen of CT; her daughters: Margaret Fitzsimmons and her husband Thomas of CT, Carla Troast and her husband Douglas of NJ, and Ann Castelli and her husband Joseph of NY; her grandchildren: Kristen Restivo and her husband John of MA, Kathryn Fitzsimmons and her fiancé Matt Littlefield of NY, Thomas Fitzsimmons, Lee Cardillo and his wife Liz of PA, Matthew Cardillo and his wife Ashley of NJ, Andrew Cardillo and his fiancé Gina Aufiero of CT, Alex Cardillo, Claire Cardillo, Sarah, Billy and Maggie Troast, Leanne, Joseph and Michael Castelli; and her great-grandchildren: Jack, Kayla and Lily Restivo, Allison, Matthew and Isabella Cardillo and Christopher Cardillo.

Joan is survived by her sister Claire LeMoult. She was predeceased by her parents Edgar and Rita Kinard; her brothers Edgar and Craig Kinard, her sister Sandra O'Shea and her granddaughter Joan Marie Troast.
