Helen Sauter

Helen Sauter (nee Maniatis), loving wife of 60 years, mother of 4 children, and YiaYia of 4 grandchildren, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2016 at 86 from complications of lung disease. She is survived by husband Peter Sauter; children Nicholas Sauter, M.D., Penny Mitchell, James Sauter, Esq., and their spouses; John Sauter and his fiancee; and grandchildren Peter Mitchell; Peter, Hannah and Samuel Sauter. Helen was born and raised in the Bronx, and a long-time resident of Greenburgh, NY. She graduated from Hunter College with a BA in Philosophy and Classical Languages. She was a beloved “mommy” to her nieces and nephews. She touched the lives of countless children as a teacher’s aide at Alice E. Grady Elementary School in Elmsford, NY. Viewing will be at Ballard-Durand Funeral Home, 2 Maple Avenue at South Broadway, White Plains, NY 10601, on Thursday May 26 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. The Funeral will be at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 10 Mill Road, New Rochelle NY on Friday May 27 at 10am followed by interment at Ferncliff Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation to Holy Trinity Church or the American Lung Association.
