G. Richard Lucas, age 74, of White Plains, NY died in White Plains hospital on May 31, 2019. Known by his family and many friends as Dick, but also by George, Richard, Luke or Lucas by his friends, he was born in Brooklyn, NY on August 14, 1944 to John and Charlotte Lucas (nee Nowak) and was the eldest of six children. Dick is survived by his long-time partner Sheila Barnett, her two children, Colin Sandler and Shawn Wells, siblings Jim, Dale and Diane (Bob and Don predeceased him), his Aunts, Elizabeth Nowak and Anne Rivieccio, 4 grandchildren Jake, Jesse, Kaleigh & Cameron, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all. Dick led an extraordinary life. From Chicago in the summer of '68, to Woodstock to the aftermath of 9/11 and beyond, he seemed to sense the historical importance of events and needed to take part. On his journey he befriended and touched many people. To his family, he was the glue that held us all together. To his friends and many acquaintances, he was an intelligent, engaging person who disarmed you with his knowledge and humor. He loved life, and shared that love with everyone he knew. A Celebration of Life will be held for him at Moonlight on the Avenue café, 308 Mamaroneck Ave., NY Mamaroneck NY on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 from 6 - 9 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Central Westchester Audubon Society in his honor.
