Dr. Marianito C. Mabutas, Sr., 68, passed away in Bronxville, NY on November 23, 2017.

Mar was a loving husband to Jessie Rose, caring father to Jhoanna Marinette, Jessie Marilette, Marianito Jr. and son-in-law Sreenandh Krishnagopalan, and kind and adoring grandfather to Riya Marisse and Tara Elyse Krishnagopalan.

Mar was born on February 3, 1949, in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, to Juan Mabutas, Jr and Angelina Cid (both deceased). He was a beloved brother of Rosemarie, Mitos, Antonio (deceased), Marides, Raphael (deceased), Joel, Noel, Johnny, Chita, and Grace, and a dear brother-in-law of their spouses. He was also a beloved son-in-law of Jesus A. Degala, Sr. and Rosario B. Degala (both deceased) and brother-in-law of Milagros, Luz, Jesus Jr. (deceased), Nena, Rosario, Dane, Jane, Marylou, Aurora, and their spouses. He was a dear Uncle to many nieces and nephews of the Mabutas and Degala families.

As a young man, Mar attended St. Mary's Academy, Vigan Ilocos Sur Seminary, and the University of Santo Tomas where he studied medicine. He continued to be active in their alumni associations until his death.

After graduating from medical school, he worked as a radiologist at the Jose Reyes Memorial Hospital in the Philippines, and later as an examiner and technician in Oakbrook, IL and in White Plains, NY, at Davita, White Plains Dialysis, and Apps Para Medical Services.

He was a treasured friend to all he met while he lived with his family in the Philippines, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, and Rome, Italy.

Mar was an avid golfer, sports fan, karaoke singer, and selfie photographer. He passed as he lived, peacefully and surrounded by his family.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, a donation to the Dr. Marianito C. Mabutas Sr. Scholarship Fund would be much appreciated. This fund is being established under the auspices of the SMA Global Alumni Association, Inc (a 501 (c)(3) tax exempt organization). Mar has been the chairperson of their scholarship program as he has always wanted to help children in need. This fund will help enable children to attend St. Mary's Academy where he graduated high school in his hometown of Agoo, La Union, Philippines. Thank you for your support.

There is parking available in Our Lady Of Mount Carmel School parking lot during the memorial visitation. The Funeral Home is located one block away from the school.
