Bob Angarola
Beloved husband, father, grandfather.
Cherished son-in-law, father-in-law, cousin, colleague, and friend.
An incredibly loving and lovable man of warmth, wisdom, and humor, whose smile could light up a room-and always did.

Born on November 25, 1950 in the Bronx, the beloved son of Agnes and Joseph Angarola, Bob was a favorite amongst his first cousins-Paula, Marietta, and Margaret on his father's side, Don and Nick on his mother's-and he loved to recount the times they shared in his youth, even as an adult.
His memories of his youth were, like his nature, always sunny, as were those of his years at Fordham Prep and Fordham University. His college years were immediately followed by service to his country as an officer in the U.S. Air Force, stationed first in Washington State and later on in Georgia, where he also earned his MBA at Valdosta State.
Following in the footsteps of his accomplished father, Bob began his lifelong career in banking at J.P. Morgan where, among other duties, he would travel to the Pentagon handcuffed to an attache case filled with government money earmarked for undercover ops. His banking career after that was far more traditional and stolid, involving the management of IT systems and operations, risk management, and--perhaps his favorite--corporate real estate.
Among the banks to benefit from his expertise and acumen after J.P. Morgan: Midland Montague, B of A, Credit Anstalt, Bank Julius Baer, Credit Lyonnais/Agricole, and NYCB. The outpouring of affection, respect, and love from those who worked with him stands as testimony to his achievements as a banker, but even more importantly to his outstanding skills as a manager. Bob was both a mentor and inspiration to his hundreds of employees, and a respected peer to his colleagues throughout the industry. Among his many accomplishments were his years as a director and president of the International Financial Services Association, or IFSA, previously known as the Council of International Bankers, or CIB.
His volunteer service extended even further, with ten years served on the New Rochelle Board of Education, including the last two years as its President. He also served as Chairman of the city's Human Rights Commission, and later on as a member of its downtown development agency. Prior to that, Bob enjoyed several years as a beloved Cub Scoutmaster. It was during that time that he met his very best friend, Tony, and created some of his funniest, happiest memories. (Snipe hunt, anyone?)
To know Bob was to love him...one could bask in the sunshine of his easy and radiant smile. Like the sun, he exuded light and warmth. He embraced you with his kindness, generosity, and good humor. He dazzled you with the quickness of his mind and of his wit. But above all, he was a family man--overtly, utterly, unabashedly devoted--to his loving wife, Ilene (who was born on the same date as Bob, albeit 110 minutes sooner)...to his cherished sons, Mark and Brian, whose own lives and accomplishments are a tribute to their Dad...to his delightful and charming daughters-in-law, Allison and Maria...and to his bright and beautiful grandchildren-Nicole, VictoriaRose, Joseph, Melissa, and Nicholas-an endless source of gratification, joy and pride.
And the love he shared with those closest to him extended even further-to his "sister-in-heart," Diane, and his "nephews," Mark and David. To his parents-in-law, Dottie, Walter and Phyllis; his brother-in-law, Larry, and so many, many more-cousins, colleagues, and friends. Also on his list of loves-his dogs (Ruby, Amber, and Roxie), his boats (KeyChange and Nicojorosa), and the places he felt most at home and at peace (Sedona and Saratoga Springs).
For all of us who knew Bob, the sun has lost its brilliance. The stars don't shine quite as brightly, and day seems more like night. We miss him and we always will-of this we are all certain. We also will always be grateful for all the love he gave us, and the chance to share the most beautiful blessing that was his life.
