Ailsa (McKinstrie) Tripodi

Ailsa Tripodi, age 80, passed away on April 22, 2022. Ailsa is survived by husband John Tripodi, son Michael, many nieces and great-nieces and nephews.

Ailsa was born in Glasgow, Scotland to John McKinstrie and Bertha Dawson. Ailsa went to school in Glasgow, and was the British Sprint Champion at age 16. Ailsa went on to earn a degree as a pre-school teacher. She came to the United States at the age of 21. She met her future husband John in 1973 and they were married in March of 1974. She was a nursery school teacher at Purchase Community House for 12 years. She became a citizen of the United States in November of 1997.

Ailsa enjoyed many hobbies including needlepoint, sewing, painting and playing tennis. She was an outstanding baker and is known for her oatmeal cookies, along with many other baked treats. She loved interacting with children and was a favorite to many neighborhood kids.

Public Viewing will be held Wednesday, 27th of April, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Ballard-Durand Funeral Home, 2 Maple Avenue, White Plains, NY.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony's of Padua in West Harrison. Burial will follow at Greenwood Union Cemetery in Rye, NY.

Contributions in Ailsa's memory can be made to the Church of St. Anthony of Padua or The Greater Hudson Valley Council of the Boy Scouts.
