William Wakeford

William (Bill) Wakeford, age 90, died at the Hudson Valley Hospital Center in Cortland Manor, New York, on November 8, 2010. Born December 8, 1919 in Toronto, Canada, to the late Winifred and William E. Wakeford, he immigrated to the United States in 1947. Bill became a US citizen in 1954 and after his marriage to Mary Elizabeth (Betsy) Cuff in 1956, settled in West Harrison, NY. He was a long time employee of the IBM Corporation, working over 38 years in numerous locations involving Sales and Litigation departments. Bill was an avid collector of antiques, stamps and coins. Among his passions were woodworking and numerous home projects. Upon retirement, Bill and Betsy enjoyed traveling especially to England and France. Bill was predeceased in 2006 by his beloved wife of 50 years, Betsy Wakeford. He was the devoted father to his sons G. Scott and his wife April of Goodyear, AZ, Geoffrey and his wife Kathleen of Danbury, CT and Glen and his wife Ellen of Yorktown Heights. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Justin, Lydia, Meghan, Kara, Sasha, and Izabella.
