William Francis Sofsky

William Francis Sofsky was born on December 15, 1985 in Manhattan, New York. He passed away on January 21, 2017 as the result of a sudden and unexpected brain aneurysm. William graduated from Westlake High School where he played football, was Homecoming King and was friends with everyone. William went on to earn a college degree in computer science and worked as a technical advisor and manager for Brookstone in Brooklyn, New York. In his free time William enjoyed creating computer Apps, perfecting his craft in the field of computer science and spending time with his family and friends. As a lifelong fan of the New York Jets and New York Mets he enjoyed watching and attending games with his brother Frank; although both teams brought nothing but disappointment and anguish!  William enjoyed culture and traveling; he spent time living in both Europe and Asia and traveling those continents extensively. This past year he fulfilled a lifelong ambition of trekking to Mount Everest base camp. William was a loving son to his mother and a devoted brother to his two siblings. He loved his family and is survived by his mother Mary Whelan, his brother Frank Sofsky and his sister Kayla Grahn. Reposing, Hawthorne Funeral Home on Friday from 4-8 PM. Funeral Mass, Holy Rosary Church, Hawthorne, N.Y. on Saturday at 10 AM. Interment private.
