William T. Mulhern of Hawthorne, New York was born November 3, 1930 in New York City to parents William Mulhern and Mary Houlihan. The youngest of 4 children, William was raised in the Bronx neighborhood of Highbridge. He and his siblings Marion, Dorothy, and John attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church. William served in the United States Army, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Division in Germany from 1952 to 1953. Discharged early to care for his mother, William went on to graduate from Pace University and worked as an administrative accountant and auditor for KPMG and other firms before finishing out his career working for the City of New York. Throughout his life, William was active in civic affairs, and particularly interested in environmental protection and green space preservation in Mount Pleasant and greater Westchester. He believed that Man, the Earth, and God are intertwined. William married his heart’s delight, Dorothy Gallagher, in 1965 and has three children, John, Mark and Beth, and five grandchildren, Matthew, Gavin, Maeve, Trent, and Quinn. William instilled his faith in God, the importance of family, and self-reliance in his children and grandchildren, and he forever will be a guiding light in their lives.
