William (Bill) Coram was born December 8, 1919 to the late George and Nettie (Winston) Coram. Bill was one of fifteen children; thirteen who are predeceased and a living sister Delores Blanks of Tuckahoe, New York. A lifelong resident of Greenburgh, New York, Bill attended Greenburgh schools. He worked with his father on numerous construction jobs before going off to war. During World War II, Bill served as an Ammunition Specialist in the United States Army. He was stationed in North Africa and Italy. Although the country was at war, Bill made many friends. He proudly spoke of his many adventures and near death experiences. He was honorably discharged in 1946. In 1949, Bill met and married Catherine Eillis of Rocky mount, North Carolina. Together, they raised five children; Frances Perry of Camden, South Carolina; William Coram Jr. of Port Jervis, New York; Michele Coram of Bedford Hills, New York; David Coram of Key West, FL and Elinor Gobina of Danbury, Connecticut. Bill retired from construction in 1983. He spent years doing what he loved, painting and gardening. He completed over 100 paintings; many are hanging in homes throughout the United States. Bill is survived by his wife Catherine, sister Delores, children, 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildern and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
