Walter R. Zobelt, of Poughquag, New York, passed away on May 12, 2024. Walter was born in Bronx, New York to the late W. Richard and Mildred Zobelt.
Walter joined the Air Force in 1960 and received an Honorable Discharge in 1964. He began his working career with the Department of Recreation in Croton. From there he worked his way up the ranks and retired from Con Ed in 1995. He was a volunteer firefighter in White Plains, a member of the Masonic Order, Order of the Eastern Star, The Elks and Shriners. Even with all his accolades, his most valued title was that of Grandpa.
Walter was a loving husband, beloved father, cherished grandfather, best friend and occasional confidant. He always loved finding a reason to have a party and any casino was like his second home.
Walter is survived by his daughter Claryssa and granddaughter Elyzabeth.
Calling hours will be at Ballard Durand Funeral Home, 2 Maple Avenue, White Plains, Monday, May 20 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Services will begin Tuesday, May 21 at 11:00am at Ballard Durand followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery.
