Vivian (Wilner) Sheff

Vivian (Wilner) Sheff of Bronxville, NY passed away on June 26, 2023 at the age of 93. Born on May 10, 1930 to Bess and Israel Wilner, Vivian grew up on Faile Street in the Bronx surrounded by aunts, uncles, and cousins in a loving home. Vivian’s sister Barbara joined them in the Faile Street house six years later.

Vivian graduated from Hunter College. For forty years, Vivian was a beloved elementary school teacher in the Harlem and Yonkers school systems before her retirement in 1992. Upon her retirement, Vivian became an active member of the Brandeis Women’s Network.

Vivian was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her daughter Fran, son-in-law Kenneth, and granddaughter Elizabeth.

Use the box number, #13 and indicate that the funds are to be used for the Glaucoma Ophthalmology Gift Fund. The gifts will be allocated to the Glaucoma Ophthalmology Gift Fund in her memory. They will be used to support current research activities to detect glaucoma as early as possible and to advance treatment of this devastating eye disease in support of the work of Dr. Jeffrey Liebmann, Chief, Glaucoma Division and his team.
