Tyler C. Rush, 24, died tragically in a motorcycle accident on March 22, 2012. Born July 5, 1987, he was the oldest son of Edward and Lauren Murphy Rush. He graduated from Archbishop Stepinac High School and from SUNY-Rockland Community College with an Associate's Degree in Automotive Technology. While still attending RCC, Tyler began working for the Village of Elmsford Water Department as summer help. Always mechanically inclined, he thrived in this environment and was asked to stay on when the summer ended. His last year of school, Tyler worked full-time, went to classes, and played on Rockland's championship baseball team. After graduation, he continued working for the Water Department. In addition, he had his CDL and did heavy towing for Autobahn. Following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, Tyler was very dedicated to the fire service. He joined Live Oak Engine Company at 18; earned Firefighter of the Year three times and a Life Saving Award, and became a lieutenant and an EMT. Tyler is survived by his parents, his siblings, Luke, Francesca, and Connor, and his very close extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is previously deceased by his four grandparents. Reposing, Hawthorne Funeral Home on Sunday, 4-9 PM. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Elmsford, NY on Monday at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Tyler's memory may be made to either Our Lady of Mount Carmel School, 59 East Main Street, Elmsford, NY 10523 or Burn Care Everywhere, 283 Tarrytown Road, White Plains, NY 10607
