Thomas J. Roell Sr.

Thomas J. Roell Sr. 78, a retired detective Sergeant with the Westchester County Police department, passed away on June 20, 2017. Mr. Roell was born September 25, 1938 to Adolph and Catherine Roell in Richmond Hill Queens and attended New York City Schools. He married Carol Ann Compiglione on May 26th, 1962 at Holy Rosary Church in Hawthorne, NY.   Mrs. Roell has been deceased since 2006. He served proudly in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1959 aboard the USS Cambria.  In 1959, Mr. Roell moved to the Mt. Pleasant area and in 1977 to Cortland Manor. After his retirement from the Westchester County Police Department in 1986, Mr. Roell was employed by Con Edison as a corporate Sr. Security Investigator. Mr. Roell was also a Charter Member of the Westchester County Police Emerald Society as well as a member of the Westchester County Retired Police Officers Association, the International Narcotic Enforcement Officers Association and the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Roell is survived by his Daughter, Linda Ann, his Son, Thomas J. Roell Jr., 5 Grandchildren, a Sister Kathleen Groves and two Brothers, James and Charles Roell. Mr. Roell was a member of St Columbanus Church in Cortland Manor. He was a kind and loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend. Reposing, Hawthorne Funeral Home on Friday from 5-9 PM. Funeral Mass, Holy Rosary Church, Hawthorne, NY on Saturday at 9:30 AM. Interment, Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla, NY to follow. In lieu of flowers donations in Mr. Roell’s Rosary Hill home in Hawthorne, N.Y. would be appreciated.
