On August 17, 2022, Thomas Malmud, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at the age of 83. Tom was born on April 7, 1939, in Brooklyn, N.Y., and graduated from the University of Rochester and Harvard Law School. Thereafter, he practiced real estate law for 57 years. On August 4, 1963, he married Rita (née Zal), and together they raised two children, Paul and Joan in White Plains, N.Y. Tom will be remembered for his love of sports, quick wit, and determination. His love of sports started early as a boy when he rooted for the Brooklyn Dodgers. Determined not to miss important Dodger moments, he taught his mother how to keep score of a baseball game and convinced her to do it while he was in school so he would know exactly what had happened when he got home. Whenever you were with Tom, you could never be certain where a conversation would go. He might reference an historical event, that day’s New York Times, or make a lighthearted remark that was bound to make you laugh. He was also very determined and focused. If Tom wanted to accomplish something, he never thought about why not, but instead, focused on how to make it a reality. Tom is survived by his wife Rita; his two children, Paul Malmud (Aspa) and Joan Rocklin (Bob); and his three grandchildren, Abby and Adam Malmud and Sam Rocklin. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Center of Excellence for Multiple Myeloma at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.
