Thomas John Eaton of Hawthorne, New York died on 9/2/2018 at the age of 87. He was born April 18, 1931 to Madeline Eaton (nee Waechter) and Frank A. Eaton in the Bronx, New York. Thomas is survived by his wife Ruth DeJeu Eaton, son John Longyear and wife Christine of Bedford, Texas, daughter Judith Longyear Rich and husband Thomas of Santa Clarita, California, son Jerry Longyear and wife Deborah of Danbury, Connecticut, son Frank Eaton and wife Michelle of Hawthorne, New York, and son Timothy Eaton and partner Robert Barbero of New York City. Also, he is survived by 13 grandchildren and 14 greatgrandchildren.
Thomas served in the Korean War from November 1951 to October 1953 in the US Army on overseas duty for 16 months. After his discharge he joined the New York State Police and later the Westchester County Police where he became a sergeant eventually retiring in November 1980. Subsequently, Thomas went to work for The Metric and Multistandard Components Corporation in the accounts receivable department retiring in 2003.
Thomas was an active member of the Ridgeway Alliance Church where he served in many capacities including the Executive committee and as an usher. Also, he was an active member of the Hawthorne American Legion Post 112.
There will be a Memorial Service at Ridgeway Alliance Church, 465 Ridgeway, White Plains, NY on Saturday September 22, 2018 at 10am. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Great Commission Fund with checks payable to Ridgeway Alliance Church. www.BallardDurand.com/obit/thomas-j-eaton/
