Thomas E. Cartledge

Thomas E. Cartledge Sr. 89, of Valhalla NY died on January 23, 2015. He was a beloved husband, loving father and grandfather. He was the third son of the late John S. Cartledge and Catherine D. Cartledge. Thomas is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years Nancy Nightingale Cartledge, his sons Thomas Jr., Robert, daughter Nancy Taft, and his grand children Justin, Zackary, Isabel, and William. He is preceded by his two brothers Robert and George both of White Plains. Thomas was born in Yonkers and moved to Valhalla with his parents 65 years ago. Thomas was a veteran of WWII in the Army- European Theater. He was a member of the NYC District Council of Carpenters and worked as a long shoreman/carpenter for 25 years. Thomas was also a 50 year member of the Valhalla Independent Volunteer Fire Co. as well as a Fire Commissioner. Visiting, Hawthorne Funeral Home, Saturday 12-2PM. Interment, following at Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla, NY. In Lieu of flowers, please donate to the Firemen's Association of the State of New York (FASNY) would be appreciated.
