Thomas W. Acheson

Thomas W. Acheson of Hawthorne, NY passed away on May 17, 2023, at the age of 87. He was born on February 11, 1936 to Thomas & Anna Acheson in Bronx, NY. Thomas graduated and from Mount Saint Michael Academy in Bronx, NY. He served honorably in the U.S Air force from 1958-1962. Following his commitment in the Air force he joined the New York City Police Department, eventually rising to the rank of detective.

In 1965, Tom married Carol Griffin and they were together for 58 years on May 15, 2023. Tom was a believer in faith and family. He and Carol raised 2 children and became the proud Grandpa and Grandma to 5 grandchildren. St.John's Episcopal Church in Pleasantville, NY was very important in Tom's life. He found ways to serve by volunteering at events such as Christmas tree sales, playing Santa Claus, mid-night run and being apart of the vestry. Tom had many interests from playing poker with his friends, he loved a trip to the casino, working in his garden, building onto his Britain soldier collection and following is favorite NY sport teams.

Thomas is survived by his loving wife Carol, 2 children, Thomas (Katherine), Heather (Pierre); 5 grandchildren Ethan, Evan, Madelyn, Thomas and Tyler. He is also survived by siblings and in-laws: Anne, Ronald, Alexis, Helen, Joseph and Marilyn. Along with many nephews, nieces and friends. He is preceded in death by his brother Bruce and brother-in-law Bob.

Visitation will be held at the Hawthorne Funeral Home, 21 West Stevens Avenue Hawthorne, NY on Monday May 22, 2023 from 4-8pm. A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 23 at 10:30am at the funeral home followed by burial at Ferncliff Cemetery 280 Secor Road Hartsdale, NY
