Susan Amenechi-Enahoro

Dr. Susan Nneka Oluyemisi Amenechi-Enahoro, was born on the 3rd of August 1955 in Ibadan, Nigeria.

She attended her Elementary and High schools in various parts of Nigeria from 1964 to 1971. She then attended and obtained her Medical degree from the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, from 1974-1979. graduating with honors.

She obtained her Master of Science degree in Occupational Medicine from the London School of Hygiene in 1982, then proceeded to obtain another Master of Science degree in Public Health from Harvard University in 1983.


Susan started her professional career with the Nigerian Ministry of Defense in 1984, rising to become the Chief Medical Officer and Public Health Specialist at the Nigerian Air Force Headquarters Medical Center in Lagos.

She did her residency program at Woodhull Medical Center Brooklyn, New York from 1998 to 2001,before proceeding to join the Housing Works HIV/AIDS Service Organization Inc. in 2002 to 2008 She then proceeded to join Morris Heights Health Center in the Bronx, rising to become HIV Medical Director.

Dr. Susan Amenechi-Enahoro was recognized for her contributions to the provision of high quality HIV Primary care in her community. She garnered several National and State Merit Awards, including the Dr. L. Laubenstein HIV Clinical Excellence Award in December 2004, and also received the Life Time Achievement Award from the association of Nigerian Physicians in the Americas , (ANPA) New York Chapter in December 2022.

Dr. Susan Amenechi-Enahoro was a certified member of the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) and was affiliated to several Medical Associations.

Dr. Susan Amenechi-Enahoro is survived by her two boys, Michael, and David Enahoro, her grandson Michael "Micky" Enahoro III, her brothers, several nephews, nieces and cousins.
