On January 13, 2023, Stephen Wu, longtime Hudson Valley resident, passed peacefully.Stephen was born May 9, 1934 in Canton, China, the second of five children. The family left China in 1949 and resettled in Taiwan.
After graduating from National Taiwan University in 1958, and a year of military service, he emigrated to the USA to pursue an MBA-which he received from New York City's Baruch School of Business in 1966.
During his MBA studies, Stephen noted the rise of the computer industry. He decided to ride this wave. Thus began a long career in technology, including stints at RCA, Columbia Records and IBM. Stephen worked for IBM over 25 years, most recently in Financial Planning & Analysis. Former colleagues in Poughkeepsie and Fishkill still remember his quick wit and strong work ethic to this day.
Stephen married Margaret Huang in 1969. Their first son, Jason, was born in 1973. Their second son, Ray, was born in 1976.
In his free time, Stephen was an avid photographer and enjoyed traveling through America's many beautiful national parks and forests. In the 1990s, Stephen became a born-again Christian. He was an admired and respected Elder at Chinese Alliance Church of Westchester in Port Chester, NY, and frequently doubled as their photographer.
Stephen is survived by his sons Jason and Raymond, his grandson Dallas, his sister Celia and her two children. He is dearly missed. May he rest in Peace.
