Stephen L. Sarno

Laughing and sharing stories, that’s how we will all remember Stephen Sarno. Stephen passed away on Sunday, May 16, 2021 unexpectedly of a heart attack. Up until his final moments though, he was enjoying life, his family, and the company of his many friends.

Stephen grew up in White Plains, NY, attended White Plains High School and Westchester Community College, and recently retired after 40+ years working at ShopRite. From his colleagues to his customers, everyone loved Stephen and his kind, empathetic, and joyful spirit. Whether you needed a shoulder to cry on, a good belly laugh, or a recount of the latest Yankee game, Stephen was your man.

Stephen loved the simple things in life: New York Sports Teams, beach vacations in Wildwood, NJ, doting upon his nieces and nephews and their children, and spending time with his friends and family. He knew that the only way to live life was to encircle himself with the people who mattered most to him. But beyond surrounding himself with love, Stephen’s generosity towards others is what we shall all try to emulate.

Stephen was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Joan Sarno, and his brother in law, Harold Mero, and is survived by his siblings: Joanne Mero, Michael Sarno, and Paul and Susan Sarno; and by his nieces and nephews: Justin Mero, Ryan Mero, Michael Sarno Jr., Katie Sarno, Kristen Drobysh, Christopher Sarno, Derek Sarno, Kevin Sarno, Danielle Kass, Stu Einwohner, VJ Einwohner, Tommy Einwohner and their families.

He will remain forever in our hearts. May he rest in peace.

Reposing, Hawthorne Funeral Home on Thursday, May 20, 2021 from 4-8 PM. Where Funeral Services will be held at 7 PM.
