Sonny Mancuso

Sonny Mancuso of Hartsdale, NY, died April 11, 2012 in Dobbs Ferry, NY. He was 91 years old. Sonny was born September 9, 1920 in the Bronx, NY, son of the late Joseph and Philomena Mancuso. He served in the US Army during World War II. On September 6, 1944 he married Mary "Mae" Murray in Verplank, NY. He was the owner of the Holiday Inn catering restaurant in Scarsdale, NY. Sonny was a long time active member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Elmsford, a member of the Elmsford Italian American Club, Scarsdale Elks Club and the American Legion. Sonny was also a past Chairman of the Greenburgh Republican Party and was a volunteer at the Rosary Hill Home in Hawthorne. Along with his beloved wife of 67 years, Sonny is survived by his daughter, Nancy (Michael) Bowerman and sons Robert (Helene) Mancuso and John (Tricia) Mancuso. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Michael Bowerman, Jeremy Mancuso, Kristin (Poli) Curanaj and Cara Scott-Pokorney and one great grandchild Cody Scott. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be missed by all. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Elmsford on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 10:00am. Friends will be received at the Ballard-Durand Funeral Home "Elmsford Chapel", 72 East Main Street, Elmsford, NY on Friday, April 13 from 4-8pm. Interment will follow in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY. Memorial Contributions in Sonny's memory may be made to the Rosary Hill Home, 600 Linda Avenue Hawthorne, NY 10532.
