Socorro "Cora"� Aviles was born in St. Claudio, Lugo in Spain, 1917, to Julio and Mercedes Duran, longtime residents of White Plains, NY. Cora was a longtime resident of Enisburg Falls, Vermont and lived her last years with her sister, Mercedes in White Plains. Cora passed away in White Plains on September 2, 2012 surrounded by her closest family and friends. Cora is survived by her sister Mercedes Leis, her brother Julian Duran of White Plains, her sister-in-law Patricia Duran of St. Petersburg, FL, her son Frank Lopez and daughter-in-law Rosemarie Lopez as well as several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Daniel Aviles. Cora will also be missed by her extended family, Sarah and Steven Watsworth and their children Brenden and Elissa all of Vermont. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Church in White Plains Thursday at 9:30AM. Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the Ballard-Durand Funeral Home, 2 Maple Avenue at South Broadway, White Plains. Interment will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
