Shirley (Goldsmith) Schechter Levene passed away February 2nd, 2017 at the age of 99. She died peacefully, surrounded by her two daughters, Ruth Schechter and Judy (Schechter) Lasko, and cared for by her beloved caregivers, Daphne Hall, Madgeta Montegue and Bobbet Simpson. Ms. Levene lived in Westchester her entire life. She graduated from Vassar College in 1937, and received a master’s degree from Columbia School of Social Work. She was passionate about her work as a psychiatric social worker, and saw patients into her early 90s. Ms. Levene enjoyed playing golf, tennis and Ping-Pong. She was an avid bridge player, and played at the Bridge Deck until she was 96. She traveled widely with her husband Jack Levene. Shirley Levene is survived by her two daughters, four grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. She was a strong personality and will be missed by many.
