Shirley A. (Auerbach) Day

Shirley A. Day formerly of White Plains, NY, Elmsford, NY and Dobbs Ferry, NY,   passed away on October 6, 2019 in Poughkeepsie, NY at age 85 following a lengthy illness. She was born May 9, 1934 in Mount Vernon, NY to her late parents Leo and Madeline Auerbach. Shirley was a graduate of A.B. Davis High School in Mount Vernon. She raised her family in several homes in Westchester County, NY.  In 1989, she relocated to Fort Walton Beach, FL where she spent many years living with her partner, Phillip Dykes. Shirley had recently moved back to New York where she lived her life up until the time of her unexpected passing. Throughout her life, Shirley was very strong-willed, confident and determined. She definitely lived life on her own terms even up until the time of her passing. Aside from spending time with her family, she also enjoyed tending to her rose bushes or taking casual walks along the Sunny Florida coastline. Shirley is survived by her loving children Ann Valencia of Hartsdale, NY,  Marilyn Formichelli (Michael) of Wappingers Falls, NY, Lori Ryder (Geoff) of Yorktown Heights, NY, Gregg Rosenberg (Mary Ann) of Chesterfield, VA and Julie Durocher of Lake Peekskill, NY. She also had many Grand-Children and two Great Grand Children. Shirley was predeceased by her brothers. Lawrence R. Auerbach 1923 – 2014, Marvin P. Auerbach 1926 – 1992 and Richard Auerbach 1930 – 2006. Graveside Services will be held on Thursday 11 AM at the Mt. Eden Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Deborah Hospital (demanddeborah.org) or The American Cancer Society (cancer.org)
