Shannon Robinson was born on January 25, 1950 in White Plains, NY to the late Maggie Smith and Enoch Robinson. Shannon departed this life on Monday August 5, 2013 at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY. He was raised up in Sheldon, SC by his late Grandaunt Julia P. Frazier and educated in the local schools of Beaufort County SC. He attended Robert Smalls Middle School and graduated from Beaufort High. After graduation he returned back to NY residing in Yonkers.
His first job was working at a shipping department in Mount Vernon, NY. He transferred later to Hunts Point Market in the Bronx, NY where he worked in the produce department. Shannon worked on and off in a dual job as a NYC Taxi Driver and an ambulance driver for Ellis Ambulance Service. He went on to work at General Motors in Tarrytown, NY. During the plants closure he transferred to Fitzgerald, Georgia where he became ill. He returned back to Greenburg, NY with his wife and children.
In May of 1972 he was united in Holy Matrimony to Helen E. Kelly. From this union they were blessed with three children. Shannon had a natural ability to be very direct, opinionated, and frugal. However, if he believed in you there was nothing that he would not do for you. He also enjoyed having fun. He displayed enormous strength throughout many of his physical difficulties.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years Helen E. Robinson (Sheldon, SC), daughter Marlo (Greenburgh, NY), son Shannon & daughter-in-law Nakia (White Marsh, Maryland) and son Le’vi (Greenburgh, NY); two grandchildren Quran & Somalya; one brother preceded him in death Louis & wife Lurlina (Queens, NY), Bernard & wife Joyce (New Haven, Connecticut), Enoch Jr. (Peekskill, NY), Gregory (White Plains, NY), Victor (White Plains, NY), Sister Sandra (White Plains, NY); nine sister-in-laws, Cleo Stokes (Seabrook, SC), Rozella Kelly (Sheldon, SC), Betty Grant (Sheldon, SC), Annette Grant (Queens, NY), Janette Grant (Sheldon, SC), Alberta Wilson (Rockledge, Florida), Sadie Mae Kelly (Sheldon, SC), Shirley Black (Yemmasse, SC), Gail Simmons (Ridgeland, SC), and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. –We will miss youuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!!!
