Salvatore (Sal) Puma, 95, died suddenly on September 23, 2010, in Ormond Beach, Fla. Born on September 18, 1915 in NYC, he was a former longtime resident of
Valhalla, N.Y. Predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Adele Odietus Puma in 1997, he is survived by his daughters Patricia Ann Puma Cieslinski (Raymond)and Barbara Yapko (Irwin); step daughters Virginia Collins and Susan Hager; a sister, Pauline Powers; three grandchildren Debra Jean Dowling (Lee Fismer), Robert Dowling, Jennifer Anne Tufillaro (Steven); five great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and his love, Trudy Vivian. Known as a mechanics mechanic, Mr. Puma was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Ormond Beach, the Knights of Columbus and an avid Yankee fan and hunter. A Celebration of his Life will be held on Saturday Oct.9, 2010 at Hawthorne Funeral Home from 9 AM to 10:30 AM, followed at 11 AM by a Memorial Mass at Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y. with interment immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his name to the Fraternal Order of Eagles # 4435, 1542-44 Ocean Shore Blvd.., Ormond Beach, FL 32176 would be appreciated.
