Ruth G. Owen

Ruth G. Owen 86, a longtime Valhalla, N.Y. resident, passed away peacefully on Jan. 1, 2011. Ruth was born in Copenhagen, Denmark on June 9, 1924 and was the daughter of the late Anker and Olga (nee Christiansen) Olsen. Ruth was a very avid reader and had a passion for knitting baby sweaters. It is estimated that she knitted over five hundred sweaters for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and anyone who asked her to make one. She is survived by her husband Ed of sixty five years, and children Carol, Chris, John and Edward, also survived by her ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Reposing, Hawthorne Funeral Home on Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral Mass, Holy Name of Jesus Church, Valhalla, N.Y. on Wednesday 10 AM. Interment, Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla, N.Y.
