Ruth Sheridan Grimsey former longtime resident of White Plains died Saturday, June 5, 2010 in West Babylon, NY. Ruth was born in New York on March 10, 1917 daughter of the late Patrick and Augusta Sheridan. She married J. Herbert Grimsey in 1942. Her husband predeceased her in 1985. Ruth was affiliated with Eastern Electric Corporation since 1949 and was the Chairman of the Board before retiring. She was active in the American Red Cross White Plains Branch beginning in 1959 acting as Secretary and Chairman, Chapter Chairman of Volunteers and Chapter Vice Chairman from 1964 to 1972. She served two six year terms on the Chapter Board of Directors Territorial Chairman of Volunteers for Putnam, Rockland and Westchester Counties from 1975 to 1981. Ruth also served on Steering Committee for establishment of the Westchester County Chapter Blood Pressure Testing Program in 1973 as Coordinator of Central Westchester Program. Ruth was active in the Woman's Club of White Plains since 1963 serving three two year terms on the Board of Directors and various committee chairmanships. She was affiliated in Westchester County Federation of Woman's Clubs acting as Vice Chairman and program Chairman from 1977-1979 and the Exchange Club Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse serving on the Board of Directors and as Chairman from 1987-1998. She was also active in the White Plains Beautification Foundation and a member of the Exchange Club of White Plains. Interment will be in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.
