He was lovingly called Pops, Daddy, Uncle Mel, Daddy Roy by numerous relatives and friends. He was born in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica on April 23rd 1942.  He was the only child born to Milo L. C. White and Lillian A. Pennicott-White.  He was very active from childhood through his young adult years, often found dallying on his bike through the streets of Kingston.  He was also a very ambitious young man.  He attended Trade school during his teens to become an electrician.  He often shared storied of how he was the youngest and most efficient electrician during the late 50’s and early 60’s.

Around 1967 he took his skills and his experience to Nassau Bahamas where he worked for about 4 years.  Always the adventurer, he was eager to go where there is an opportunity to support his family.  He found that next opportunity in Grand Cayman where he lived with his family and work for about nine years. Wishing to be in closer proximity to his aging mother, he moved with his family to New York in 1981.

He was employed by a company called Sunlight Electrics.  He was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Worker’s Local No.3 in NYC.  He was a Foreman; a supervisor, the first black Foreman in the Union. He taught and inspired many future Electrician of all races. He retired at 62 and returned home to Jamaica to enjoy the peaceful vibes from the Hills of St. Mary.

He leaves to mourn his parent; Sybil “Aunt Millie” Pennicott-Hall, his six children, Ricky White, Faithlyn G. White-Melvage, Richard M. White, Michelle A. White-Watt, Ray M. White and Natasha S.
