Rose Barre

December 13, 1927 — January 30, 2022

West Harrison

Rose Barre 94, of West Harrison, N.Y. died on Jan.30,2022 at her residence. She was born on Dec.13, 1927 to the late Luigi and Victoria (nee Viscomi) Maida in Soverato, Italy.

Known for her incredible southern Italian cooking, family and friends could always be found in Rose’s kitchen enjoying a feast.  She showed her love by making sure you were always well fed and always had a seat at her table.

Rose is predeceased by her beloved husband Anthony Barre with whom she was married for 56 years and shared two beautiful daughters Lydia and Anna Marie, both of West Harrison, N.Y. and her cherished grandchildren, Thomas Penirelli and Melissa (Claudio) DiBattista.  Their love story is one for the ages.  They faced good times and hard times but always lived their lives with integrity and dignity and that is how they raised their daughters.  At a young age Lydia and Anna were taught the value of a dollar and the importance of hard work and dedication in all aspects of life.  They led by example and what a truly genuine example they were to their children.

In her later years Rose found new love in the form of 3 beautiful great grandsons.  Thomas Robert, Joseph Patrick, and Claudio Anthony.   Her great grandsons were fortunate to know and love their great grandmother.  They shared priceless moments and created beautiful memories that each will cherish for a lifetime.

Also survived by her sister, Maria Ficchi of Soverato, Italy and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her two brothers, John and Antonio and sister, Lidia Maida.
To those that knew Rose the best, stories of her hilarious one liners will forever be ingrained in our memories.  Whether she was asking Melissa and Claudio for the 10th time, “whena you gunna coma see me”?  Or striking up a conversation with Thomas with a “whatsa matta fa you”?  Rose loved her family and always made sure to keep them close.  She was truly a one of a kind and her love and light will live on in all of us.

May she rest in eternal peace.
