Our beautiful Rosalina "Lina" Figueroa Marrero, formerly of New York City and later of White Plains, New York, was called back to God on November 30, 2023. Lina lived 100 beautiful years of life. During that time she was a devoted daughter, caring sister, dedicated wife, loving mother, endearing aunt, doting grandmother and delightful great-grandmother. She loved all animals, especially birds. She always loved taking care of plants and flowers in her home.
Lina is survived by her children Evelyn Figueroa (Jesus "Pops" Rivera), Rafael Figueroa and Ruben Figueroa. She is also survived by her grandchildren Monique, Monica, Brenda, Leonorcita, Liana, Maritza and Yaritza and multiple great grandchildren.
Lina loved Pops like a son and he cherished her in return. He always went out of his way to make her feel special.
Lina was predeceased by her husband Serafin Figueroa, her beloved daughter Sandra Figueroa, her beloved son Ernesto (Andy) Figueroa, and her brothers Fello, Mando, Nito, Aurelio and sisters Anna, Mercedes and Laura. She is the last of her eight siblings who all lived well into their 80s and 90s. She is truly the end of an era.
Rosalina was born in Ciales, Puerto Rico on October 30, 1923. She moved to New York City with her husband and children in 1947. Although moving here had provided different opportunities, Lina chose to live a simple way of life, created a family and chose to devote her life by taking care of them. She lived her life constantly wearing a big smile and a one-of-a-kind laugh, all while probably holding a cerveza in her hand. Lina was so beloved by all of her extended family, and had special bonds with her nieces and nephews. Lina's loving personality was so magnetic that all who met her loved her.
Our family is her legacy, and she has truly blessed us all with her spirit, her laughter, and her love.
Rest in beautiful peace Lina, Mami, Abuela....
WE LOVE YOU
