Ronald L. Bernhard

Ronald L. Bernhard 64, of White Plains, N.Y. lost his battle with cancer peacefully at Calvary Hospital on April 8, 2014. Ron retired after a 35 year career at TIAA CREF as an Investment Officer. Ron started his own consulting firm and began a new career as a volunteer. This included: Westchester Community College ESL Department, The Volunteer Center of United Way and Big Brothers Big Sisters as a board member. Ron, a native New Yorker, was born on January 26, 1950. He was educated at Hofstra University and New York University. Ron was a loving husband, adored father, most loyal friend and an avid sports fan. He is survived by his wife, Tess Cerra of 37 years and children Amanda and Adam Bernhard of Elmsford, N.Y. Ron will be missed by all whose professional and personal lives were touched by his goodness and generosity of spirit. Reposing, Hawthorne Funeral Home on Friday, 4-8 PM. Funeral Mass, Holy Name of Jesus Church, Valhalla, N.Y. on Saturday, 10:30 AM. Interment, Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Volunteer Center of United Way, Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Dickstein Cancer Center in White Plains, N.Y. would be appreciated.
