Rocco A. Portanova

Rocco A. Portanova, 88, of Valhalla, N.Y. died on Oct. 26, 2010 at his residence. He was born on January 28, 1922 to Leone and Grace (nee Iuni)Portanova in Naples, Italy. He proudly served in the US Army in World War II. Rocco owner- operator of Battle Avenue Food Market in White Plains, NY. Mr. Portanova was a member of the Roma A.C. of White Plains, NY. He is survived by his devoted wife Marion (nee Altamura) Portanova of Valhalla, N.Y. one loving daughter Lynn Karafantis and Tom Wilson of Pleasantville, NY, two loving sons Rocco A. Jr. and wife Paula of Destrahan, LA. and Richard and wife Michelle of Deland, FL. two sisters Carmela Halliday of Brandt Lake, NY, and Ellen Portanova of West Harrison, NY., also survived by Six cherished Grandchildren and Eleven Great Grandchildren. Pre deceased by one brother Armando Portanova. Reposing Hawthorne Funeral Home on Thursday 5-9 PM. Funeral Mass, Holy Rosary Church, Hawthorne, NY on Friday 10 AM. Interment Mount Calvary Cemetery, Greenburgh, NY. In lieu of flowers donations to Phelps Hospice, Sleepy Hollow, NY. would be appreciated.
