Robertson, Robert W. (Roe), a 52 year resident of West Harrison passed away on July 31, 2009.
One of many siblings, he was born in White Plains on November 4, 1930 to Lawrence and Sophie (Hansen), raised in White Plains, graduating from Alexander Hamilton H.S.
A fiercely proud Korean War veteran, he married his wife Lucy (Trabakino) after his tour with the US Army in the Asian theater. The couple eventually chose West Harrison to raise their family.
A Teamster, Roe worked as a mover for Allied Van Line's Mt. Kisco agent, Whalen's Moving and Storage for many years and served as Shop Steward for his union's local. He was a former Commander of American Legion's Mt. Kisco chapter and a member of West Harrison's Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Once a fine amateur baseball player, he was an avid sports fan, known for his unconditional support of the NY Mets; wearing his cherished Met hat to almost every function he attended. His first love, however, was for his family. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren compete in recreational, scholastic and intercollegiate sports. As their proud grandparents, Popie and Nanny were always in attendance.
Roe is survived by his loving wife Lucy, daughter Debra (Richard) Salerno, son Robert W. Jr. (Lisa), grandchildren Richie, James, Joe, Scott, and Julie; sister Margaret Lowden. He was predeceased by his daughter Susan. He was always be known as a beloved uncle and a friend to many.
Friends may call on the family at the Ballard-Durand Funeral Home, 2 Maple Ave, White Plains NY on Sunday, August 2nd from 5- 9pm, and Monday August 3rd from 9-10am. A service will be held at the Funeral Home following visitation at 10am. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
