Robert A. Pruner 83, a lifelong resident of White Plains, N.Y. died on Dec.1, 2019. He was born on April 15, 1936 to the late Max and Marie (nee Smith) Pruner in Tilly Foster, N.Y. Bob Graduated White Plains High School. He attended Ohio State University, where he played football. Bob was a retired College Executive at College of Westchester in White Plains, N.Y. He married Marge Heaney in 1955 and settled in White Plains, NY, where he and Marge raised six children, Derek, Bobby, Kevin, Jimmy, Karen and Kathleen. He was also very involved in local White Plains politics, and was a past President of the local US Junior Chamber, aka the ‘JC’s’. Bob was very involved in the community as a founding Member of the local Valhalla Sports Booster Club. He was also a founder of the local pop warner football team, the Kensico Vikings and he announced Valhalla HS football games for close to 20 years- he was known as the “Voice of the Valhalla Vikings”. He was a life long parishioner of Holy Name of Jesus Church, and played guitar and sang in the church music group, the ‘B.A.S.I.C.s’ (Brothers and Sisters in Christ), for more than 50 years. Bob was also very involved in Catholic Cursillo for many years. He was predeceased by his devoted wife, Margaret (nee Heaney) Pruner in 2003 and also predeceased by his brother, Max Pruner and sister, Beverly Hill. Robert is survived by his loving children, Derek E. (Sheilah) Pruner of Dunnellon, FL, Robert A. Pruner, Jr., of Yorktown Hgts., N.Y., Kevin P. (Maureen) Pruner of White Plains, N.Y. James D. Pruner of Pleasantville, N.Y., Karen M. (Anthony) Recine of Valhalla, N.Y. and Kathleen M. (Leslie) Thomas of White Plains, N.Y. also survived by his five cherished grandchildren, Rebecca (Nick) Kimmel, Christopher and Patrick Recine, Ryan and Emily Pruner he was very involved in their lives and he was also survived by his four great grandchildren. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins and brother in law, Robert Heaney. Reposing, Hawthorne Funeral Home on Thursday, 4-8 PM. Funeral Mass, Holy Name of Jesus Church, Valhalla, N.Y. on Friday, 10 AM. Interment, Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla, N.Y.
