Robert Maiaro

December 7, 1935 — September 4, 2024

Hague, NY

Robert "Bob" Maiaro, a resident of Hague, NY and also of Tuckahoe, NY, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2024 at the age of 88. Born in Yonkers, NY in 1935 to Giacomo Maiaro and Lucy Sparno, Bob was a man whose life was defined by family, love and a deep passion for the islands and waters of Lake George, New York.

Bob married Kathleen Medlar while serving in the U.S. Army, which took them to Fort Huachuca, Arizona. Bob & Kay started their family there before returning to New York where they raised their six children in Tuckahoe. Together, they built a family rooted in love and tradition, with boating and camping becoming a cornerstone of their family life.

As a young man, Bob earned the rank of Eagle Scout and later served as a Boy Scout leader in Eastchester, NY. Bob deeply enjoyed outdoor adventures with scouts, friends and family. Bob's career began in the sales field, and culminated in his ownership of the Mylen Architectural Stairs company. Bob and Kay's 56-year marriage ended with her passing in 2013. Later he found companionship once more with Marge Porter Maiaro, who brought much love and happiness to his final years.

He was a brother to the late Josephine (John) Mooney and to Richard (Licia) Maiaro and Dennis (Julia) Maiaro, and a beloved uncle to nine nieces and thirteen nephews. His legacy extends through his immediate family to a broader circle of loved ones.

Bob is survived by five of his six children: Kathy (Martin) Rego, Maryann (David) Hamel, Michael Maiaro (deceased), James (Nancy) Maiaro, Michele (Greg) Baldwin, and Arlene (Pepe) Toscano. Bob leaves nine grandchildren: James Rego, Dina (Dan Traverso) Rego and Rachel Rego; Benjamin Hamel and Rebecca (Blaine Stubstad) Hamel; Michael and Charles Baldwin; Luis and Anna Toscano. He was also blessed with four great-grandchildren: Archer and Ember Stubstad, Daisy Hamel, and William Traverso.

Bob is also survived by his wife Marge Porter Maiaro and their extended family: Step children, Wayne Porter (deceased), Rob (Jamiee) Porter and Cindy (Jim) Scranton. Bob leaves nine step grandchildren: Krystal (Josh Jacquish) Porter, Brandon, Cole and Wriley Porter and Shayne Arroyo; Lance Porter and Chase (Morgan) Porter; Jordan, Jacob and Landon Scranton. Also, five great-step grandchildren: Jenna Jacquish, Vivian, Caleb and Darby Porter and Charlotte Arroyo.

Bob was blessed with a creative, generous soul and a true love for life. His days spent on Lake George were some of his happiest, reflecting his spirit of adventure and tranquility. His memory will forever be associated with the serene beauty of Lake George.
