Surrounded by his family, Robert J. Kenny, of Hawthorne, NY passed away peacefully in his home on February 8, 2023 at the age of 75. Bob was born in New York City, NY on July 17, 1947 to Rose Kenny (Speisman) and grew up in Inwood, New York. He graduated from George Washington High School in 1966 and went on to serve in the United States Coast Guard from 1966 to 1972. Following his time in the military, Bob began working on Wall Street for Wood, Struthers & Winthrop, and later worked in the Sales profession for Canada Dry, Anheuser-Busch, Fink Bakery, and Rockland Bakery, from where he eventually retired.
Bob is survived by his wife and children. He was married to Francine (Salanitro) for 51 years and had two children, who he adored and was very proud of, his son Kevin Kenny (Ellen Mary) and his daughter Casey Kenny. He is predeceased by his mother Rose Kenny and his brother Richard Owen.
Growing up in Inwood, Robert (as he was known to his Inwood family and friends) could always be found in a school yard or at Inwood Park playing basketball or playing softball for Doc Fiddlers. Moving to Westchester County to raise his family, Bob continued to play softball and had a reputation as being one of the best pitchers in the league. He played into his early 50’s! Being an avid sports fan, Bob also loved bowling, playing golf, going to the race track and playing cards with his buddies. Bob enjoyed watching football so much that he even changed his wedding date to not interfere with Super Bowl Sunday! In addition to actually playing sports, he loved watching his children participate in sports programs and often coached their teams. Bob especially enjoyed spending time with his wife and children and interacting with their dogs (his extended family!) Bob always loved being with family and friends. His favorite holiday was Halloween and being able to dress up in his funny costumes that Fran would make for them to wear. He had such a great sense of humor and liked to make people laugh with his arsenal of jokes. If you were lucky enough, Bob would even sing you a tune too! We already miss the presence of our loving husband and father being with us, but the happy memories of our precious time with him will always live on within us and bring us smiles. We know he will always be looking down and protecting us from above.
