Robert (Bob) S. Goldsmith, 90, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and devotion to family and friends. He is survived by his children, Richard (Linda) and Gillian (Peter), as well as his five beloved grandchildren, Davis, Holly, William, Samantha, and Graham.
Bob dedicated his professional life to the textile and packaging business, retiring at the age of 88. He was known for his unparalleled work ethic and passion for his career, earning the admiration of both colleagues and customers alike.
Affectionately known as "Poppy" to his grandchildren and everyone who knew him, Bob was the epitome of optimism. He lived life with a vibrant spirit, always seeing the glass half full, and sharing his positive energy with all around him.
Bob was a devoted volunteer at White Plains Hospital for over 43 years. He dedicated countless Monday nights working in the emergency room and later served as a greeter at the Cancer Center. Bob became a beloved fixture at the hospital, and his kindness and warmth were deeply appreciated by patients, their families, and the hospital staff.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Bob had a deep love for anything involving a bat, ball, racket, or puck. A competitive tennis player into his late 80s, he continued to play doubles matches well into his retirement. Whether playing or cheering on his favorite teams, Bob's love for sports was undeniable. He was an avid supporter of the Brooklyn Dodgers, NY Giants, NY Rangers, NY Yankees, LA Rams, and any USC team. Above all, he was an enthusiastic and proud fan of his grandchildren's sports endeavors, always cheering them on from the sidelines.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 51 years, Juliet Goldsmith. He is survived by his partner of 13 years, Virginia Greene. . Bob's legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and the many people whose lives he touched with his warmth, kindness, and love for life.
A celebration of Bob's life will be held privately by the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to White Plains Hospital in Bob's memory.
Rest in peace, Poppy. Your love and joy will continue to inspire all who knew you.
