Rita Ferraro Del Duca, of Hastings-on-Hudson, died peacefully surrounded by her family at home April 13, after a long battle with emphysema. She was 74. Mrs. Del Duca was a long-time former resident of Edgemont. Mrs. Del Duca was born in New York City on April 1, 1933. SHe was the daughter of the late New York Composer, Joseph Ferraro and his wife, Ermelinda. She attended Evander Childs High School and graduatedfrom Hunter College in 1955 with a degree in elementary education. She married Joseph A. Del Duca on October 29, 1955. Together they raised fourchildren. Mrs. Del Duca was a multi-talented woman; she taught both primary school and music. Additionally, in her later years, she taught languages, first introducing Italian to the Edgemont School District curriculum and later serving as an instructor at the Linguarama Language School in White Plains, New York . Additionally, she was also actively involved in civic affairs and served as Republican District Leader in her community. Trained by her father, she was an accomplished pianist. She was also a talented artist who loved to work in oils and express her deep emotions through her artwork. She will be most remembered for her great devotion to her family. She was much loved and will be greatly missed by them. She is survived by her husband Joseph, one son and three daughters;
Lynn Ingrassia of Rye, N.Y., Susan Matthews of Scarsdale, N.Y., Paul
Del Duca of Hastings, N.Y., and Andrea Cohane of London. She is also
survived by eight granddaughters, Sarah, Claire and Jenne Ingrassia,
Ryan, Taylor and Corey Matthews and Samantha and Sofia Cohane. She
leaves three sons-in-law, Paul Ingrassia, Bob Matthews and Bill Cohane and a sister, Iris Morelli of Rye, New York.
Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
