Richard H VonOhlsen

Richard H. Von Ohlsen, a resident of Ridgefield, CT and formerly a long time resident of White Plains, NY died on July 4, 2011. He was 88.

Mr. Von Ohlsen was born on August 10, 1922 in White Plains to the late Julius and Adele (Weiss) Von Ohlsen. He served in the US Army during World War II and in the US Air Force during the Korean War. On March 24, 1945 he married Ruth C. Johnson. She died in 2000.

Mr. Von Ohlsen graduated from White Plains High School in 1940. He spent his entire professional career in banking throughout the New York area. After retirement, he worked as bookkeeper for various local businesses, as well as being active in The Rotary Club of Valhalla.

He is survived by his sons and their spouses, Craig & Bonnie of Ridgefield, CT and Carl & Robin of Flemington, NJ; his daughter, Carol Ditkowsky of Sebring, FL; his grandchildren: Jason & Gina Ditkowsky, Jessica & Chris Smith, Erin Von Ohlsen, Lindsay Von Ohlsen, Austin Von Ohlsen and Kristin Von Ohlsen; and 7 great grandchildren, Casey, Alexa, Kiera, Mason, Kaiden, Dakota and Harley.

Visiting Friday 4-8 pm at Ballard-Durand Funeral & Cremation Services, 2 Maple Ave, White Plains, NY. A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday 10:00 am at the Valhalla United Methodist Church, 200 Columbus Ave, Valhalla, NY. Interment will follow at Kensico Cemetery.
