Richard James O’Brien, 65, of Millbrook NY, passed away peacefully at his home on March 20, 2021. He was born on February 22, 1956 to the late John and Eileen (nee Parsons) O’Brien in New York City, the third child in a family of eight children. He grew up in the Highbridge and then Kingsbridge sections of the Bronx. He attended Sacred Heart elementary school and De Witt Clinton High School. In 1979 he joined the United States Air Force. He moved to Copake NY in 1983 where he resided and worked for many years. Richard was a lifelong sports fan. You could always find him wearing his Yankees baseball cap and sporting a big smile. In fact, we can’t even begin to count how many Yankee caps he went through in his lifetime. He was also a daily “Jeopardy “watcher and loved his music.
He is survived by his brother John O’Brien and his wife Christine, his sister Joan Dauernheim and her husband George, his sister Helen Pisano and her husband Joe, his sister Patricia Perepeluk and his brothers Anthony, Matthew and Luke. Also, he is survived by nieces and nephews, Paul, William, Lauren, Andrew, Briana, and Keith. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother in law John Perepeluk.
Lastly, we want to thank the staff at Castle Point Veterans Hospital and other VA staff who were so helpful in providing loving and caring healthcare to Richard over the years.
