Albert Richard Neave of Sarasota., FL passed away on July 2, 2005 of a heart attack. He was 76. Richard was born in Mt. Vernon. NY in 1929. He graduated with honors from Lehigh University in. 1952, where he earned a B. S. in Civil Engineering. He began his 28 year career with Austin Construction in New York City as a surveyor and later moved into sales management where he became one of the most prolific sales managers in the company. He was transfeaed to Brazil early in his career and later relocated to Paris. France as Director General (President) of Austin Europe and North Africa. Richard retired from Austin Co. to found Eagle Design and Construction Group headquartered in New York. N. Y " with offices in London, Beijing and Sydney- Richard was a. resident of New Canaan,. CT for 23 Years before retiring to Sarasota. He traveled the world extensively with his wife and children. Finding Asia particularly fascinating. He loved introducing his five children to skiing, golf ( fishing. motor homing and cycling, while teaching the value of integrity, optimism and perseverance along the way. Richard was a wine enthusiast. Collector of traditional jazz music and an avid reader. An interest in American Revolutionary history was prevalent in his life; he was a true American patriot. It ill poignant his passing should so closely coincide with the birthday of the country he dearly loved. Richard was married to the "Jove of his life" Kathy Metcalf, for 43 years. Kathy passed in 1999. Richard is survived by his. Five children - Michael, Thomas, Tracey, Kelly and John.'Pop-pop "or 'Poppy', also leaves behind six adored granddaughters.
