Richard (Dick) Dannenberg died suddenly at age 87. Survived by his wife of many years Barbara, three children: Susan/Sudi (Olivier) Randoing, David (Shelley) Dannenberg, Catherine Parker (David Walker) and six grandchildren: Jason & Benjamin Randoing, Delaney & Lee Dannenberg, Julia & Aidan Walker. Richard was a graduate of Duke University-Phi Beta Kappa, Magna Cum Laude in 1952 and Yale University Law School in 1955. He was a retired lawyer, philanthropist, world traveler and hospital volunteer. He established three endowments at Duke University: The Susan Joy Dannenberg Endowment for Financial Aid, The Richard B. Dannenberg Endowment for Academic Advising and the Barbara L. Dannenberg Endowment for the School of the Environment. Richard and Barbara have been active supporters of Westchester County organizations including The Westchester Philharmonic, White Plains Beautification Foundation, White Plains Hospital, ArtsWestchester, The Performing Arts Center at Purchase College and The White Plains Woman's Club; in New York City-Carnegie Hall and the New York Philharmonic. After practicing with a small boutique law firm from 1955-1968, Richard Dannenberg and Stephen Lowey reorganized that firm which for more than 50 years became known nationwide as the highly respected Lowey Dannenberg firm. After retiring in 2004, Richard volunteered his services at Pace Law School and was a Federal Court Mediator. For over ten years he was an avid tennis player and White Plains Hospital Ambassador and volunteer who brought his caring sense of humor to everyone. Richard and Barbara became consummate world travelers visiting over 90 countries and all the continents. He was dearly loved by his family and friends who enjoyed his sharp wit, humor and magnanimous spirit. He adored his children and grandchildren as they adored him and found great joy in his involvement in all their endeavors. Contributions in Richard's memory can be made to the charity of your choice.
