Richard Edward Conroy

Richard Edward (Dick) Conroy 101, of Hawthorne, N.Y. died on October 6, 2022. He was born September 3, 1921 in White Plains, NY to the late John and Delia (nee McLaughlin) Conroy. He is predeceased by his loving wife of 61 years, Sharon (nee Sprague), his brother John and sister Mary (Hughes). He is survived by his children, Theresa Zezula, Richard Conroy (Debra), Robert Conroy (Jill), Barbara Mann (John), Kathleen Conroy, 5 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dick attended St. John ’ s School in White Plains and graduated from White Plains High School. He received an Associate ’ s degree in electrical engineering from Westchester Community College.

Richard was a WWII veteran, serving as a B-24 bomber crew chief in Italy. He worked as a carpenter for the New York City Railroad, and as an Electrical Inspector for both the City of New York and Clinton Bogert Associates.

Richard built his house in Hawthorne NY, and lived there for nearly 70 years, where he and Sharon raised their family. He was a parishioner of Holy Rosary Church in Hawthorne.

Dad loved the Yankees, building houses with Habitat for Humanity, creating dollhouses for the grandkids, shooting pool at his condo in Mesa, AZ, venturing out for his favorite lasagna, and of course, he treasured his family!

Reposing: Hawthorne Funeral Home on Monday, Oct. 10, 2022 from 4-8 pm. Funeral Mass, Tuesday October 11, 2022 10:00 am, Holy Rosary Church, Hawthorne, N.Y. Interment to follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Greenburgh, N.Y. In Lieu of flowers donations to Habitat for Humanity International would be appreciated.
