Richard Adolfson

Richard Adolfson 83, of Rye Brook, N.Y. and formerly of Valhalla, N.Y. passed away on April 1, 2017 after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. Born on June 24,1933 in White Plains, N.Y. he spent his childhood in Harrison, N.Y. before moving to Valhalla, N.Y. Richard graduated from White Plains High School where he majored in art, winning many awards. He served our country proudly in the US Navy from 1951-1955. He later joined Stoffel Seals Corporation where he worked as a Graphic Designer for over forty years. Richard was an avid tennis player and also enjoyed playing pool with his fellow members at the Rye Brook Senior Center. He is survived by his wife Dottie and son Brett Adolfson (Jodie) of Newtown, CT and daughter Kim Groberg (Richard) of Henderson, NV and his beloved granddaughters, Sydney and Piper Adolfson of Newtown, CT and Alexis Mervine of Henderson, NV , his sister in law Elinor Marzelli of Valhalla, N.Y. and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Gustav and Tyra Adolfson. Visiting at Hawthorne Funeral Home on Wednesday, 3-7 PM. Funeral Mass, Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y. on Thursday, 11 AM. Interment to follow.
