Remo De Laurentis

Remo De Laurentis, a longtime resident of Elmsford, died at the age of 79 on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. He was the beloved husband of Pia (D’Ippolito) with whom he shared 58 years of marriage. In addition to his wife, he is survived and will be deeply missed by his children, Gabriel De Laurentis and his wife Antonella De Laurentis of Stamford, CT, Fred De Laurentis of Elmsford, NY, Sandra Caralyus and her husband Robert Caralyus of Elmsford, NY, 4 grandchildren, Melissa De Laurentis, Gabriella De Laurentis, Robert John Caralyus and Gianna Caralyus.
Remo was born in Colledimezzo, Chieti, a cherished son of the late Ersilia (Marchionno) and Federico De Laurentis. He was a dear brother to Aurelia and her late husband, Eduardo Vizioli, late Zita and her late husband, Gustino D’Addario, Mary DiNardo and her late husband, Joseph DiNardo, Anthony De Laurentis and his wife, Theresa, Joseph De Laurentis and his wife, Helen. He was a dear brother-in-law to Americo D’Ippolito and his wife, Anna, Dominick D’Ippolito and his wife Lucy.
In 1955, he immigrated to the United States. Remo married his wife, Pia on November 30, 1957. He had two sons, Gabriel and Fred and one daughter, Sandra. Remo was a general contractor until his retirement. He enjoyed working outdoors and in his garden, playing cards with his friends at the local Colledimezzo Club, and especially enjoyed being around his whole family including his children, siblings, inlaws, nephews and niece. And Remo especially loved and adored his grandchildren.
The family will receive friends and family on Friday, April 29th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the Ballard-Durand Funeral Home, 72 E. Main Street, Elmsford, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, April 30th at 11am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Elmsford, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Elmsford Ambulance Corps c/o the Elmsford Fire Department.
